King Street was founded in New York City by Christina Guidera in 2017.
Christina’s passion for baking started in her Italian Grandmother’s kitchen. To this day, Christina bakes the desserts for every family birthday and holiday, infusing features from her grandmother’s original recipes with a modern spin.
After graduating from University, Christina was unsure of her career path and with an urge to travel, she packed her bags and moved to Sydney Australia, where she lined up a job as a prep cook. Throughout her time there, she fell in love with the café and coffee culture and desired to find a way to infuse her passion for baking with this Australian culture. After a year, Christina moved back to New York City only to find a void in the café and coffee culture in America. She found herself missing the beautiful, delicious, and wholesome-tasting baked goods that were a staple at every Sydney based coffee shop.
She channeled her passion into building a career in the restaurant industry and spent years working her way to her dream job at Eleven Madison Park. Christina’s time in fine dining led her to opening the doors of her own company - paying homage to the street she lived on in Australia, King Street was born.
Christina started baking out of her studio apartment on Mott Street, and delivering the mini cakes in UberPool to a friend’s café. To grow her clientele, Christina would venture out to cafes throughout the city offering them samples of cakes, cookies, and bread. Eventually, she set up shop in an industrial kitchen.
King Street now bakes out of Brooklyn, supplies baked goods to cafés throughout the five boroughs and has started its first season at Smorgasburg with the Big Buns pop up.
